• Select the lowest temperature to get started

    1. Fill and power on

Add drinkable water and turn on the WellO2 Steam Breathing Trainer. Start at the lowest temperature and gradually increase to the setting that feels most comfortable. The steam is warm* but not boiling, ensuring the steam is gentle and comfortable to inhale.

    45 °C – gentle start
    ● ● 55 °C – medium warmth
    ● ● ● 60 °C – warmest setting

    * Average as exact temperature depends on breath strength and resistance level.

  • Select desired resistance

    2. Select the Resistance

Begin at resistance level 0. As your breathing strength improves, you can gradually increase the resistance. The WellO2 Steam Breathing Trainer offers four resistance levels:

    • Level 0 – 15 cm H₂O (Beginner)
    • Level 1 – 30 cm H₂O (Standard)
    • Level 2 – 65 cm H₂O (Expert)
    • Level 3 – 120 cm H₂O (Professional)
  • Breathe through the device

    3. Breathe

Exhale and inhale fully through the mouthpiece or nasal mask, maintaining a smooth, controlled rhythm. Each session consists of 1–10 breath cycles, repeated for 2–3 rounds. Take short pauses between rounds if needed, and focus on steady, comfortable breathing throughout the exercise.

  • Repeat daily

    4. Maximise Your Breathing Power

For best results, use the WellO2 Steam Breathing Trainer for just 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes in the evening. Consistent practice can lead to a 20% increase in breathing power in just one month.

Since it is drug-free, you can also use WellO2 more frequently if desired. Focus on steady, controlled breathing and gradually increase resistance or temperature as your strength and comfort improve. Short, regular sessions are more effective than longer, infrequent ones.

  • How to Perform a Complete Breathing Cycle

    • The foundation of WellO2 training is a full breath cycle. Perform one exhale through the device, then one inhale through the device to complete one cycle.

    • • Always exhale first to fill the device with steam.

    • • Inhale immediately after, slowly and deeply.

    • • Aim for smooth, controlled breathing — not forced or rushed.

    • • Start with 1–5 full breath cycles and increase gradually up to 10.

    • • Breathe in through your mouth or nose depending on your training goal and how you feel.

Targeted Techniques to Solve Your Breathing Problems

Immediate Breathing Relief

WellO2 training can help soothe irritated airways, loosen mucus, and support easier breathing during and after seasonal breathing challenges.

  • Use resistance level 0 (lowest setting).
  • Set temperature to medium or high.
  • If your nose feels blocked, train through the WellO2 nasal mask.
  • Breathe in and out 1–10 times per round. Take breaks if needed.
  • Repeat 1–3 times per session, morning and evening.
  • Listen to your body – discontinue use if breathing becomes difficult, symptoms worsen, or you experience pain or discomfort.

Note: Do not use the WellO2 device if you have a high fever.

Sleep & Snoring

WellO2 training may help reduce snoring, support better nasal airflow, and relieve dry airways caused by mouth breathing. The soothing warm steam also relaxes the body and mind before bedtime as it deepens your breathing rhythm.

  • Use nasal mask before bedtime to encourage nasal breathing.
  • Start with low resistance (0) and low or medium temperature.
  • Perform 1–10 breaths per round. Take breaks if needed.
  • Repeat 2–3 rounds based on comfort.
  • Use in the morning as well if your airways feel dry.
  • The best results will be achieved by training twice a day.

Sports & Physical Activity

WellO2 training can help improve breathing efficiency, support oxygen uptake, and prepare your lungs for physical effort. Regular use may enhance performance and recovery, especially when integrated into your warm-up and cool-down routines.

You can also use the WellO2 MyBreath to track your breathing development alongside your physical training. It helps you monitor progress and stay consistent with your routines.

  • Pre- and post-workout routine.
  • Begin at resistance 0 and increase over time.
  • 1–2 sessions per day for first month
  • Maintenance training: 2–3x/week after that.

Rest your respiratory muscles 2 days/week like any strength training.

Voice Care

WellO2 training can help warm up and protect your voice before use, and support recovery after speaking or singing. The warm steam moisturizes the vocal cords and reduces dryness, while breathing exercises may reduce vocal strain and relax your body.

  • Use before and after heavy voice use.
  • Low resistance and low temperature.
  • 1–10 repetitions, repeat once or twice.
  • Daily use recommended.

Older Adults / Low Mobility

WellO2 training offers support for respiratory health, helping reduce shortness of breath, remove mucus from the airways, and support overall wellbeing in everyday life. Even when exercising feels too heavy or mobility is limited, WellO2 can help support and maintain breathing power.

If holding the device feels too heavy, you can place WellO2 on a table and use the extension hose to perform the exercises comfortably while seated.

  • Low resistance (0), low or medium temperature.
  • 1–10 repetitions, 1–2 rounds. Take breaks if needed.

Even light daily use improves comfort and breathing quality.

Building Progress Over Time

  • Week 1–2: Start at resistance 0
  • Week 3–4: Slightly increase resistance as it feels easier
  • Week 5–6: Continue training or switch to 2–3x/week maintenance use

Regular use brings best results. Adjust resistance gradually with the WellO2 breathing device.

As you build your training habit, you may experience:

  • Improved breathing rhythm and control
  • Increased respiratory muscle strength
  • Better tolerance to daily physical or vocal strain
  • Faster recovery from breathing challenges
  • A calmer, more focused state through deeper breathing

You can also use the MyBreath alongside your WellO2 training to track breathing performance and see how your breathing power improves over time.

Customise Your Experience

  • Steam not strong enough? Exhale into the device a few times before your first full breath to generate more steam

  • Nasal mask uncomfortable? Start with shorter sessions and adjust the position until it feels right
  • Congested? Start with nasal exhale only or train through your mouth
  • Feeling light-headed? Slow down and reduce repetitions and resistance – breathe gently and rest as needed
  • Resistance too hard? Rotate the dial back slightly so that resistance is lower
  • Device feels heavy? Place the Steam Breathing Trainer on a table and use the extension hose while seated
